All right.
Feb. 3rd, 2004 06:44 amFair warning, this is a rant. Specifically, my yearly rant. Because, well, it's that time.
People disgust me.
They especially disgust me when it comes to the subject of politics. Let me explain- while I may be bad at remembering to get my absentee ballot in the mail before the deadline, I do my damndest to get it in every time I get the chance to vote. Why? It's part of the fucking system. A necessary part. My personal politics may lie off in the far left (somewhere around socialism and anarchism), I may be one of those people who'd prefer no government whatsoever, but still, the only way to effectively change the beast is to work in the system.
So here's the sum of the rant: You want to bitch about the state of American politics, whine about who our *wonderful* president is fucking over this week, get you parties in a twist over the latest tax initiatives- fine by me. Hell, I'll probably join you. Do all that, and take no part in the system in order to try and fix those problems, well, you have my disgust, my ire, and my frustration at your laziness. Yeah, laziness- there is no excuse for a citizen in this country of legal age to not vote- it's one piece of our nation's hypocrisy that I cannot stand.
Your homework for the week: go here- http://www.secstate.wa.gov/elections/register.aspx get registered, update your address, sign up for absentee balots, do whatever is needful to be able to participate in the voting this year. Especially the elections, as we have the chance to correct a four-year-old mistake and shove a certain should've-been-abortion out of office.
/end rant. That is all.
