Dec. 2nd, 2007 08:57 pmI fully expect to see every single bad russian gag possible in the next 48 hours.
Personally I think the buyout boils down to this:
What 6A is telling us.
"We just can't keep up with you wacky LJ people, so we're going to put you with a company that'll be devoted to bringing you the best in new technology!"
What 6A actually means:
"How DARE you not fall for our clever marketing ploys! We were told there was money to be had in taking care of you, but all you filthmonkeys want is content and functionality, without paying for it! Or paying for other useless add-on bits that we think you need! Just for that, we're going to do the worst possible punishment we can think of..... we're selling you to the ruskies!" (I'm russian descent, via some wayward Lithuanians, and I remember the Reagan years- I can get away with the russkie cracks.)
Truth be told, until Semagic suddenly fails because it can't convert my post into the Cyrillic alphabet, I have a feeling it'll pretty much be business as usual around here. Part of me is worried that LJ's going to go the way of my Dad's current employers though, whom, after no less that six buyouts in as many years, literally lost track of employees, product goals, and even products. (It was an epic drama, truly worthy of being a Dilbert comic.) If that starts happening, I'll be running off to some other site, but until then, I'm still in- too hooked on reading too many other posters around here to leave.
