All right, so as is obvious from the posts I've seen from damned near everyone so far, people aren't happy about LJ's new integration for Facebook and Twitter.

Me? I'm liking this.

Not the part about crossposting comments, but the part about crossposting actual entries? Well, it's about goddamned time. Bitch all you want, but I'm glad it's here.

Why? Well, for one, obviously just about everyone's readership is down. Hell, I don't get anywhere the commentary I usually do on posts, and often, the only time I do get that commentary is when I'm crossposting a link to said posts on FB and twitter. Face it folks, the lesson here is obvious- you want people to actually read and reply to your stuff, then you need to make sure your stuff is getting to them. If pings up on Facebook are the only way to guarantee it happening, then so be it. (though I note I seem to still be having issues with getting FB connectivity going in the first place. Obnoxious, that.)

But if the only way to get eyes on my stuff is by either shaking a stick around in the middle of a hornet's nest (and I'm running out of both sticks and nests) and post something really inflammatory, or to just stick a damn link up other places, then I'm sticking up the link.

That said, no, I will not be crossposting my comments or anyone else's. No, I will not be crossposting anything kept on a filter on here. I do have at least a little couth and common sense, thank you very much.

As an added note: if you want to crosspost something public of mine- go for it. Please. Since when has increased exposure, sharing new stuff, new ideas, and meeting other cool folks online become a Bad Thing?

It's not like someone on your FL couldn't have always cut & pasted something private you have written into an email, FB entry, Tweet, etc.

Yes, that is the deliberate betrayal.

The new system allows accidental betrayal. It's a flaw whether it is a design flaw or code defect.

yea - the fact that locked posts can get out so much more easily - that every comment box has those little radio buttons just under it, encouraging folks to do so? That's irritating...

Thank YOU

I was wanting to type "You're not that special" but knew someone would get upset.
Then I nearly typed "You're not being stalked" but knew someone might whine they are and now I've "triggered" them.
Then I thought long and hard about culling my Flist if they were gonna be such a pack of whiners.
Then I realized the drama generated by me unfriending one person during the "Rape Apologist" meme (that was a true meme) and the reverberations that seem to continue for the entire day.

So I decided to buy my husband a Happy Meal.

Your standpoint glosses over one major thing:

LJ has outright removed control from the users.

All they had to do in order to keep me as a customer was allow me to disable that fucking FB/Twit bullshit. Wouldn't be hard to do. But no, instead they decided to let it drag out in hopes we'd just shrug it off.

So fuck them. They will not get my dollar anymore.
