Dreamwidth, thus far I love you, but our relationship needs to alter some terms.
I mean, don't get me wrong, but do you think you could maybe do something with your appearance? Just a little bit? I mean it'd be nice to actually read the comments on entries without highlighting them. But your style doesn't seem to support changing that. I know, I know, you hate being compared to other journals, but if we could just get you looking more like oh, this style over here... that would be downright amazing.
So do you think you could fix that? Just for me? Maybe ask some of your friends how it'd be done?

Date: 2010-10-01 04:30 am (UTC)I'm part of the Styles team (OMG SHOULD I ADMIT THAT?), and if it's something wrong with the base theme and/or something that can't be modified in the customization area, IT MUST BE FIXED!

Date: 2010-10-01 04:58 am (UTC)Current style/theme is Marble III (aka Tranquility III? Not sure which is the base and which is the derivative here) Obviously heavily modified on colors. But yes, looking again at the modification options for colors, the only option to edit is the background for comments. No option to change the font color itself.
But hell, honestly, I'm not sure if that should or shouldn't be something in need of a fix, since I just grabbed this style and started dragging it fairly far off the beaten path, with it kicking and screaming the whole while. Honestly, if there's a better style choice that'd get me closer to my original LJ, I'd probably love that even more. Hell, if there was any to keyword search, or at least divide by genre or something among the styles to make it more navigable, that would be incredibly awesome.

Date: 2010-10-01 06:36 am (UTC)The base layout list is the best overview, in my opinion:

And
I guess...Modular is the closest to your LJ layout? But it's much more spaced out. ::frown:: But you can choose a right sidebar and having icons on the left as options, and reorder the modules (like on most layouts). And edit the font size in the header to be 1em, or something more like what it is on the LJ side.
I'd offer to tweak something, but I'm already wading through creating a style that has some features of older LJ styles that people miss (see my current journal style for work in progress).
Also, if you have questions about styles, or need any help trying to modify something,
