And Livejournal is now completely kaput for me, after three days of not being able to even handle incoming and outgoing crossposts, it's now just a 500 error for ANY LJ-related page.
Lovely.
Between that and the brokenness of doing updates via Dreamwidth's webpage in Chrome (font-handling is not working like any other text editing in any other program. To italicize or bold, I have to type the word first, then highlight it, then change the font type. And linking an image to a site via the Rich Text buttons consistently fails to work.) I am consistently getting pissed off at my journalling sites. And more and more considering shutting the whole damn operation down and moving myself over to google+ full-time, since despite being a beta, despite not being a totally huge audience yet, I'm getting things I don't get here:
1- response from readers. Consistent response from readers. Which on both LJ and DW is something of a rarity these days- there's a few of you folks left, but I feel like I'm talking to a mostly empty room here.
2- It is at this point, despite being a really early beta, more stable of a platform. Entering a post follows consistent rules of typing physics, as it were. And well, unlike LJ, the damn thing actually works. Yes, crossposting is utterly nonexistent in it's current state, but well, it is here too, so what am I really losing?
3- In all seriousness, I'm losing a LOT of time to all this cross-updating, working/reading across multiple journals, and everything else. Something is going to have to go at some point here, and it's a tough call as to what.
So, seriously people, would any of my readers here miss me, were I to disappear off this platform? Are there any of you not getting my posts at some other location? Anyone really missing my asshattery in your journal comments? Anyone simply refusing to join up on Google+, despite it being a fairly awesome platform?

And for those of you who are on G+, and haven't added me over there yet, here's a link to my profile, should you decide to add me: https://plus.google.com/109417973626424512107 (yes, after three unsuccessful attempts to make the previous sentence a link via the rich text editor, you're just getting the URL.)

Date: 2011-07-27 03:22 pm (UTC)I am not joining G+ until and unless they sort out the TOS/naming issues that have been leading to account deletions and people sometimes being locked out of all Google services, which is as much about them not thinking through the problems with "names on legal IDs only" as it is the actual deletions.

Date: 2011-07-27 04:37 pm (UTC)Standard practice, most sites won't talk about DDOS hits unless they really have to, it gives extra publicity to the idiots doing it and confirms it's actually their actions and not random coincidence.
And, partially, because sometimes it's not obvious what's going on for a bit.
