4+ years of building decks taught me that a heavy steel object swung with force will always win out over the squishy unmoving soft bits. No exceptions.

Side note: DO NOT use a drill to "reduce prseeure" on a smashed fingernail by attempting to put a hole in it. Drill bits are designed to dig and grab until they put a hole THROUGH something. I'm not going into details, but suffice to say I know it is a bad idea.

Especially the drill part- that just resuscitates some truly bad memories... *shudder*
