Alas, poor Coffepot! I knew him, Horatio: an appliance
of infinite zest, of most excellent caffeination: he hath
borne me up on his brew a thousand times; and now, how
abhorred in my imagination it is! my gorge rims at
it. Here hung the lip that kissed my mug I know
not how oft. Where be your brewing now? your
percolations? your steam? your flashes of rejuvenation,
that were wont to set the table on a roar?

No coffeepot today, as it and the grinder need a good cleaning. Which means I'm stuck on less than a cup and a half of yesterday's leftovers. Oh, coffee, how I crave thee.

Quick state of the back update:

Healing continues- the last of the shipping backlog goes out today, finally, and I was able to actually do an event, though it turns out that standing for ten+ hours is something of a bad idea- I was sore as hell by the end of it. Recovery from that is going fairly quick, though, so today marks the start of me attempting to work out again for real for the first time since the original injury.

I am going to be so glad when I can mark myself as being fully done with this crap.

Right, so, in other news, on Saturday, I received a nice small package in from Canada, which of course, I promptly opened and then nearly squeed like a little girl.

What was it you may ask? Nothing more than my very own printed copy of The Cog Wars! It's weird seeing my name in print in a book as one of the writers again. Wow.

Anyways, definitely going to have to run a game of this sometime soon, and hopefully Levi or someone'll pop on here shortly with the direct link for the lulu.com page so I can point people there.

So, I was a badmonkey.

On the way to pick up the daughterling from her school bus stop, I followed [livejournal.com profile] plaidbrat's advice and did something about my poor, lamentable, non-caffeinated state. I went and actually bought a coffee.

I think I may have overdone it.

On seeing an advertisement for chai on their window, I suddenly recalled one of my old favorite drink recipes from back when I worked as a barista, and was practically mainlining caffeine on an hourly basis. It goes something like this:

take a twenty ounce cup. and add in a batch of freshly steamed chai- only alter the usual ratio a bit- instead of the usual 50/50 ratio most shops use of chai concentrate to milk, instead go about 75/25, favoring the concentrate. Oh, and switch the milk out for half&half. And then? Throw in three shots of espresso on top of that.

Having already consumed said entire drink in under an hour, as I said before, I think I may have overdone it. I'm sure at least some of this is psychosomatic, but at the same time, I'm also now feeling the minute vibrations of the air itself. I'm hearing colors I've never heard before, and tasting sounds as think and sharp as faux-fur-lined cymbals.

Here's an approximation of my facial expression now:
