So, I was a badmonkey.
On the way to pick up the daughterling from her school bus stop, I followed
plaidbrat's advice and did something about my poor, lamentable, non-caffeinated state. I went and actually bought a coffee.
I think I may have overdone it.
On seeing an advertisement for chai on their window, I suddenly recalled one of my old favorite drink recipes from back when I worked as a barista, and was practically mainlining caffeine on an hourly basis. It goes something like this:
take a twenty ounce cup. and add in a batch of freshly steamed chai- only alter the usual ratio a bit- instead of the usual 50/50 ratio most shops use of chai concentrate to milk, instead go about 75/25, favoring the concentrate. Oh, and switch the milk out for half&half. And then? Throw in three shots of espresso on top of that.
Having already consumed said entire drink in under an hour, as I said before, I think I may have overdone it. I'm sure at least some of this is psychosomatic, but at the same time, I'm also now feeling the minute vibrations of the air itself. I'm hearing colors I've never heard before, and tasting sounds as think and sharp as faux-fur-lined cymbals.
Here's an approximation of my facial expression now:
