Ok, this adaptation of the Tempest looks downright brilliant:

Though I've got some wonderings about a female Prospero (What? Sir Ian Mckellan just wasn't available?) I'm sure Mirren's more than up to the task of it. So help me, I'm wanting to see this one in the theatre.

And this one here just looks like a load of fun and awesomeness:

Though the introduction to it that I read over on Tor.com leaves a lot to be desired.

I realize I've been ranting a ton lately about steampunk and such, but I really want to know where the hell the author of that little bit gets off as describing this film as steampunk. Seriously, what the hell? It's a solid East-meets-West action flick. And well, there's nothing that even suggests any of the genre tropes for steampunk are in place. Sure, there's period tropes, but once again, Steampunk isn't a historical period- anyone who likes to claim otherwise is blatanty co-opting so they can abuse a wardrobe full of unmodified victorian and edwardian outfits....

Ok, Breathe. End the rant. Get back into the cool clips.

Specifically, Sintel, which is an amazing piece, both for the fact that they did the entire thing in Blender, not to mention just plain their use of some decnet storytelling and lovely visuals. Watch. Enjoy.

Ok, folks, it's up and doing time!

Starting with it being official Calendar time. That's right- DeviantArt now has calendars available for 2011, and the new design for this year is now finished, uploaded, and ready for ordering.

Here's the cover- just click on it to go over to the ordering page, where you can see all the internal pages and everything else:

As always, DeviantArt does an awesome job qualitatively on their wall calendars, so this should definitely be worth checking out, if you need one for next year, or if you need one as a gift for someone else.

and if you're not sold on seeing the Windrow-Ravenswood Deck up on your wall for an entire year, why not check out my other two calendar designs from previous years that are still available?
