So, thanks for all the responses yesterday- think I figured out enough of what I needed to know on that one. So, here's todays question:
You're stuck in a wasteland in a post-apocalyptic world. There's no radiation to worry about, and modern supplies are still fairly, but not readily available. What kind of gear (and by gear, I mean non-weapon type stuff) would you pack for a long journey through semi-unexplored territory?

Durable clothing with pockets (layered)
Binoculars
Flares
First Aid kit
If I can find one - an ATV/Dirt Bike. Although if the world has gone Mad Max, gas may be tough to get.

Also:
extra socks
condoms (not for sex - for putting water-vulnerable smaller items in and knotting to keep dry)

Also on the food topic, as many MRE's as I can get my hands on and carry with me. The wieght from food is always a self-correcting problem.
