So, at work our main office has come to a conclusion- since the Seattle office was able to complete all its assignments last week, even with 5 people eliminated (thanks to me), they're going to eliminate the third shift (my shift) No shifts will now be available that start later than 11am, and no weekend shifts any more. And since I can't work those hours, I've been removed from staff, as of this coming Sunday. Joy. Time to start jobhunting again. Just. What. I. Needed. Right. Now.

ARGH!

Shite!

Any idea of what kind of job you'd be looking for? Do any QA or web design work?

Unfortunately, not enough of either to qualify- my HTML knowledge is pretty limited.

Data Entry, Customer Service management, Scanner/Image specialist type stuff would be where the realm of my non-retail experience pretty much is.
Of course, at this point, I'd even be willing to work a night-shift barista job just to keep the damn bills paid.

Hmm, well I'll keep an eye open in those areas as well then. I just ask because I have someone reliable looking for someone to do web work, and I just don't personally have the time right now.

I'll email you when I get home from work tonight, as I don't have resumes, etc. stored on my work computer.

Dude, that sucks. I'm sorry your diligence and competence was rewarded with the shaft. I'll keep my fingers crossed that you find something new (and maybe even better!) soon.

...if it comes down to it, there's always FedExKinko's. It's not the good job it was when Paul Orfalea was still large and in charge, but they do have night shift (as well as a real swing shift), many different opportunities for someone with a mix of retail and computer savvy like yourself, and health insurance.

'Course, you prolly already know all that. Fingers are definitely crossed.

Yech... Of course it's especially annoying because one week is probably not a big enough sample to determine if they really can afford to cut out the shift.

Sorry to hear that though.

Evidently, they'd been planning it for a while, but this last week was the final proof they needed, or something like that. But yeah, it's still annoying as hell, to say the least.

Sorry to hear about this. Course, that is one of the risks associated with contract work - not to mention requiring specific details in a job (in this case, the working hours).

Good luck on the hunting! Too bad you couldnt find some great business to get into that would immediately start pouring scads of cash onto your bald head.

:)
