Fuck me. Computer is now officially screwed- it's no longer recognizing any kind of mouse/trackball input. I'll be lucky if I can get this post off. And the damn Lux Aeterna master files and art are stored on here, with no way to move them off into storage. Not to mention the music stuff and everything else. FUCK!

okay, stupid question, one that I'm only asking because the alternative is buying a new system. (and because sometimes when I'm fed up with something, I don't think of the obvious, but I expect this isn't the case here). Have you tried to switch mouses and then reboot the machine? Or reinstall the mouse drivers?

Yep, tried both. In both cases, it failed to recognize the mouse as even being connected. Same goes for the trackball that's normally hooked up to this machine. If it was just the mouse issue, I'd be inclined to take this thing in to have it repaired, but since other problems have been cropping up more and more often over the last year, it's time to just plain break down and go for a new machine.
