Hate to tell ya, but it's not really a flame thrower, it's a weed burner. My uncle used to have on on his farm, best my cousin and I could get it to do was a couple of feet. You could almost do better with a modified modern blowtorch.
No worries, I was thinking it was a bit small once I realized that those two dark curves at the bottom of the first picture were actually the toes of the photographer's shoes. Still, it's the concept that counts, right? Besides, the pressure could always just get cranked up a notch or two.....
