For those who've never understood my distrust of entities like wikipedia, this comic sums it up pretty damn well. Just the third panel of it. The rest is a hoot, but that third panel nails my wiki-dislike to a T.
And the fourth panel sums up my distrust of your distrust. If you are afraid of believeing what may only be one preson's opinion, yet is constantly been peer reviewed, then you are pretty much unable to beleive anything you ever hear about anything unless you are willing to head to the universitylibrary and do your own research. Even then, you are dealing with what may be one persons opinion that may not have been peer reviewed, neverminding that usually the creators or wiki pages are going to be the same writers of the articles you read in journals as they are the ones with interest in the subject enough to write anything.
You might as well use wikipedia because although it might not be 100% correct, if you're not willing to put effort into checking the discussion and edit pages and comparing against other easy to use sources, you'll never actually do any real research.
that's my own argument against those who refuse to use wikipedia - if you distrust that, which is constantly under scrutiny, why would you bother using the internet? or talking with anyone? or reading books?
