We started going to the classes about 4 weeks ago and have found some really awesome tips on getting the kids to take responsibility for their actions. It is all about giving the power to the kids to make their own choices. Ironically enough, you as the parent hope they make the wrong choice so they can learn from it. (As long as the choice doesn't affect health or others)
Lots of very good tips there - and lots of free downloads. The earlier you start with your kids - the better prepared they are for the future. We've been using it the last few weeks and have seen marked improvement with the 9 and 12 year old.
The system actively discourages the Helicopter parenting, as well as the drill Sargent parenting styles. It is more of an empathetic approach that tells the kid you will love them no matter what, but their choices are their responsibility. Not that you won;t help them, but they won;t get anything for free.
