I'll save the actual punditry, and serious election commentary for when one of my readers actually admits they're voting Republican. in the meantime, this year's just going to prove to be too good on the election comedy front. Case in point:

Gaming/Election comedy gold.

I am sorely tempted to claim I'll be voting Republican, just to watch you start into your election commentary, but I really doubt you'd believe me...

Honestly, I want to see you try it. Convince me. Make a public post about how you support everything behind the GOP, the reasons why you're behind a McCain/Palin ticket, and why your vote is going to the conservative corporate-backed empire that's driven us into the ground for the last eight years.

And you have to smile while doing it. And not spontaneously combust.

Then I'll believe. And then, the internet hate machine shall spew forth.

Shit, sorry, we went out to eat.

Okay, hang on, I'm working up to it... Alright, GO:

I've been a strong opponent of the Republicans for, well, decades now, and I've gone so far as calling them a cancer on the spine of America, but I think they've found a strong moderate in McCain, who appeals to my conservative side. Fiscal responsibility, making sure that the rich can keep the trickle-down economics going so that poor schlubbs who obviously can't hold a job and don't deserve our largess can also get a job collecting my trash. Endless war, which, now that the neo-cons have become firmly engrained, is Very Profitable Indeed. I believe that, ultimately, the corporations will realize that their best interest is *our* best interest, and I think we're already seeing signs of that, with Wal-Mart going Green, and HP's new 100% post-consumer paper products. We need to support these entities through a rough transition. It's the only way we can maintain our God-given American lifestyle through the next few...

*pause to vomit*

... years as the economy becomes rockier.

Okay, that's the best I can do. Really. The best. I honestly thought I could do better, too--sorta disappointed there. And I have to teach classes populated largely with College Republicans.

*dying*

Here's one, though, and I'm half serious about it: the next 4 years, AT LEAST, are gonna suck out loud for our nation no matter who gets elected. I'd really rather the shit stick to the Republicans than the Dems. That's not exactly a wholesale endorsement of the GOP though, is it? =/

Damn... that must have hurt.

Ok, you've definitely earned it. You'll get your post. Tomorrow, though- my hands are aching from tonight's sculpting work, and besides, this way I get to read over the transcripts from tonight at the RNC first- I'm not allowing myself to watch said circus, as we probably wouldn't have a TV left after the first fifteen minutes.

It's worth mentioning, too, that I wrote that post while in the middle of watching the movie "Zeitgeist" (it was paused while kiddos were being put to bed). If you haven't seen that one yet... oh holy shit. Suffice it to say, writing an endorsement of the GOP during this time was more difficult than even it normally would've been.
