So, I'll admit it. the whole Relevant Content concept? Bust. I'm going insane from judging stuff, figuring out whether or not it has relevance, if I have enough to say about it, etc, that I'm simply not posting. Which is far worse than a bunch of static. The point's still good- provide signal, not just reposted noise. But to consciously damp it down to nothing but signal? No human brain works that way- we need our static, some of us more than others. It's why things like small talk exist- because the little static gaps in our brain require something taking place.
Therefore, have all the stuff I haven't been posting:
Shatnerquake: All the Shatner characters coming to life to hunt down the real Shatner. A cult of crazed Bruce Campbell fans. There's probably even a monkey or William Shatner in it at some point.
My First Dictionary- all too similar to the Doctor Suess dictionary that my daughter occasionally requires me to read every single page of. Only far, far funnier from this perspective at least.
Hyperwords- I'm still looking at this plugin and wondering just how badly it'll degrade bandwidth and performance on my system if I try it out. Any current users out there?
And finally, an exact answer for our current crisis. Though with the (9? Jeebus!) now confirmed cases in this state, I will say one simple thing: stay healthy. This isn't airborne ebola- it's the flu. If you catch it, it won't kill you unless you take no care of yourself whatsoever.
Also, the Auto-MEME. It's in ur Large Hadron Colliders, bootin' up ur music.

Date: 2009-05-06 06:26 pm (UTC)It should be noted that I am not an epidemiologist, I've just been talking to someone who's been talking to one. My non-professional "mom spit is as an aseptic analgesic" hypothesis is that the best defense against this disease is to have previously licked enough door knobs to have built of a hearty immune system, and to keep oneself generally healthy and reasonably clean now. Also that thing about washing hands and not sneezing on people so as to prevent excess transmission if you are sick is generally pretty smart. I might be wrong on this, but I am in fact genetically immune to both the Bubonic Plague and tuberculosis, and I think the CDC does a better job than they're generally given popular credit for, so I'm not personally too worried about it.
