Yeah. Amending the constitution the prevent gay marriage, and thus creating a second class of citizenry in the US. Reeeeeeeal smart, Mr Santorum. Real smart. Gah.

In my own not-so humble opinion, if anythign marriage should be completely removed from government. Get rid of the tax breaks and bonuses, and just let whoever wants to get hitched, get hitched. Leave it a matter for individuals and religions- but don't regulate it.

That said, anyone want to help with a letter writing campaign on this?

On the contrary, I think that the nation should acknowledge that *all* marriages are "civil unions" and remove the right of religious figures to authorize the change of legal relationship.

If you want the tax breaks, right to visit in the hospital, legal custody of children, etc., go to the courthouse and sign a paper. If you want God to bless you, go to a church. And never the twain shall meet.

I pretty much agree with that, except i honestly don't think that people should get a tax break simply because they're married/in a civil union/whatever. Just like I don't agree with tax breaks for children. It's all policy from back when the nation was first created- designed to provide a bonus and hopefully extra motivation to get americans to breed and fill out the population more. And about the last thing this country needs in some cases, is more people. (specifically, more idiots being constantly born)
