And yes, there is indeed an Elfquest fan-film in the works, apparently.
I'm a bit unsure about this one, largely because, this "trailer" didn't seem like so much a trailer as "Here's all of us in our great cosplay outfits!" Don't get me wrong, the quality on those is impeccable. I'm just not seeing much in the way of a plot or story in the trailer material though.
