Ideas we're definitely using/have used.

Alien invasion ala Robotech
Horror game rooted in japanese film horror, and western psychological horror/thrillers.
Communist Mecha. (On Mars!)

Ideas I need to figure out/tinker with before I could use

Steampunkish fantasy (been done to death of late it seems)
Horror-esque WWII. (Maybe as a tactical game?)
Carnivale (Not using our standard system. Something very rules-lite)
Big Trouble in Little China (Scratch that, there's so much wuxia in the RPG markets these days, I doubt I could really add anything new.)

Ideas I need to have

I have no idea- you tell me. What should I be thinking/reading/watching at this point for new inspirations?


And to clairify: No I'm not talking about picking up licensing to do games specifically based on films/movies/books/what have you- it's more for reference to the feel of what I'm looking for at this point.

I know I've seen a horror themed RPG set in WWII, I have no idea what the name of it was. However, I remember it being fairly mediocre.


I personally would like to see some of the D6 Call of Cthulhu modules converted to D20.

I've seen two or three than fall into those lines, and I agree, they all pretty much need some serious help. Part of the issue being one of how seriously (or not seriously) they treated the "normal" side of the war itself.


As for D20 Cthulhu stuff, I'll admit, I'd like to see more of those, but I'm definitely not the person to write them- I don't know D20 well enough.

My problem has been similar. I know D20 fairly well, but I don't know the D6 system well enough to translate the die roll difficulties.

Something in the 30 year war timeframe? :) You know me, all those musketeers and swords and stuff ;) (actually, 30 year war is just a little bit after the time period most people are familiar with the whole musketeer thing....)

I have read that Hitler was a big occult person, so maybe he tried experimenting with demon/human hybrids for his army. Can be a table top type of game with armies of The Aliance and the Armies of Doom Das doom to most ;)

Game I am currently writing involves the EU civil war between Western and Eastern nations. Only set far enough into the future Russia's fragmented, and Britain sides with the Eastern powers. Pretty much a mirror image of WW2, with Poland invading Germany.

Well I had a game system I really liked, but I needed a background. Dark future, war between the haves and the have-nots in America. But I asked for someground into Europe and felt that needed to be really expounded upon. It takes current events a little further. The Western powers write the EU charter to give them all the benefits of the East's labor. They refuse to give the former soviet satellites full power. At the same time, the West (france and germany) lower their guard as the US has gone totally PC, a total sociallist dystopia (that is where the setting will be initially).

The middle east has erupted into civil war over the accidentally nuking of Mecca by terrorists trying to hide a suitcase nuke from the Mossad, so the Eastern nations have bulked up. After Russia fragments due to internal corrupt, and China soon after for similar reasons, the eastern powers gear up their military for obvious reasons. The two leading nations in that effort are Poland and Ukraine, who attract other satellite nations of their own. When France forbids the Eastern powers from pacifying the Balkans by force instead of babysitting them, basically WW3 breaks out. Poland invades Germany to force the EU's hand. Nations take sides, stay neutral or sit the fence. The EU still helps the US government suppress their people through either luxuries or force, while the Eastern bloc (including Britain) provides aid to the rebels.

The Eastern bloc's forces are called NDAC, which is an acronym in polish for freedom fighters. It's also one letter off from their word for nation, something the polish take proudly.
