So, yesterday afternoon, a drunken moron managed to ram the telephone/power pole directly in front of our apartment. Power got cut off a few hours later while they were doing repairs (hence why your call got cut off, [livejournal.com profile] inaurolillium, since our phone's cordless it no worky when there's no electric.). Power finally got restored some time after midnight, and cable just now came back up. We did get some good shots of all the damage and all the tons of vehicles that got sent out for repairs- it was like an invasion by an army of City electricians.

Check out that damage!

Oh, the carnage!

shot from our balcony rail. Yes, they were that close.

Drill being used to stabilize the severely cracked pole.

Yep. That's a crane. Directly in front of our window.

Needless to say, Brenna though all this was the coolest stuff on earth. Getting to take her bath by candlelight, And all the cool trucks to try and talk to!

Good lord!

Well, I suppose it's nice to see that the integrity of the passenger cabin would have been maintained if I had decided to drive the old Dodge RAM band-van-from-hell directly into a telephone pole - the windows didn't even shatter. Scary!

Actually the camera did'nt pick up full details- the windshield is actually completely spiderwebbed from where the passenger's head hit it (seat belt evidently came apart). Driver bounced his chest off the steering column as well, but came away with only a broken arm.
