WE LOVE THE SUBS!

All right- now that a bunch of them have run off, come here.

A little closer.

No, wait, stay. I have whiskey. I'll even share.

So random thoughts led me to realize that I've been making a bunch of posts via filters lately, selectively showing different parts of the world different parts of myself. Which got me to wondering- how many filters do you all use? How much do you filter your posts? What kind of filters? (Obviously, don't tell me who you're filtering, or why, or whether or not you filter me.)

Edited to add my own answers: 10 filters in total.
3 are arts/project filters of different types.
3 for some differeing levels of friendship.
2 Community filters (more for reading than posting)
2 others (No, you don't get to know what those are...)

I just checked. There are something like six filters for my account. One for the SeaGoth boards, because nobody else could possibly care about their petty problems. One for old friends, because people from Seattle don't care about making plans to meet people in the Midwest, and really don't care about people we knew in high school who turned up in Georgia. One for people I trust with my email address and cellphone number, to eliminate the possibility of unsolicited evites. One for my sister, because I know what she can and can't be trusted with. Two for people whom I know and trust, depending on how close we are.

I don't use any filters--in fact, with I think ONE exception, I don't even lock my posts.

I don't have any filters. Mainly because I don't really know how to use them.

21:
Default View so I don't offend anyone by unfriending them when I just want to stop scrolling past the 3 pages of rambling drivel they post regularly
5 for specific people
7 to exclude specific people, so I can rant with out offending the person I'm ranting about, or plan surprise birthday parties.
The rest are various levels of friendship/details of my life.

Mostly I just do public or friends only posts.

21?!

Well, at least I no longer feel like a filter whore for having more than anyone else who's responded. Damn.

Yeah, you might say I can overcomplicate my life sometimes.

Just one friends filter currently. But I don't post enough that it makes a defference at this point.

um... 18, soon to be 19

2 that are location based (ie, where do *you* live)
6 that are project or art related
5 that are social context related (eg. gamers, SeaGoth)
1 that specifically excludes my boyfriend (which, I am happy to say I have *never* used)
2 that are event related
and the last 2 are for differing levels of friendship (soon to be 3).

current total is apparently 38 now.

i'm not going to go into too many details on their specifics, but nobody on my friends list sees ANYTHING that i don't want them to.

I hqve 9 filters. The main one I use for practically everything reflects my basic paranoia - it has everyone on my friends' list on it, but none of the groups to which I belong. I know technically and intellectually that other people who are members of a group can't read my friends' only posts unless they are also on my friends' list, but that means I have to trust that the system won't hiccup some day. And I don't have that level of trust in any system.

One excludes folks that have specifically stated that they don't want to see any quiz results.

One is girls' only, because sometimes you boys just won't want to see all the gory details about my menstrual cycles and experiences in breastfeeding.

One is an inner circle of people that I know more personally than the other folks in my 90+person friends' list.

And the rest are boringly geared towards specific groups of people, pretty much by geographic location.
